Aliens, AI and the Future of Christianity

I recently joined David Perez on the Iconoclast podcast for a 2-hour conversation on a range of topics including the future of Christianity, my experience being outed in 2012, and my forthcoming children’s book My Guncle and Me.

At one point in the conversations, David asked about the future of Christianity. We both recognize that there is a big shift underway—not just within Western Christianity, but relatedly, in the broader culture—but how big is this shift, really? Is it something akin to what we experienced in the mid- to late-20th century, or is the scope of what we’re experiencing substantively different?

My answer to that question can be found in the video below. It includes discussions about the emergence of artificial intelligence, the possibility (probability?) of alien life, the disappearance of boredom from the human experience, and why I think many (most?) of the hottest theological debates today are about to become irrelevant.
